"Time to live, simply and well; time to be neighborly, to stand and chat.
Time to ponder the turn of a gull over weathered grey buildings or the thrill of a strike in the pounding surf. Here then, lies the spirit of life on Nantucket."

The Barnacle Inn, hard-by the historical district of Nantucket, is situated in quiet garden surroundings on Fair Street, opposite St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Two blocks from cobblestoned Main Street, it is most convenient to museums, shops, and restaurants, with the harbor and surf only minutes away.

For over 41 years, the Kiendl's have owned and operated the Barnacle Inn and in that time have gained a gracious reputation from island visitors. All agree that the warm hospitality and ambiance of the Inn, combined with its ideal location for all island activities makes the Barnacle Inn the perfect choice for an island getaway.

The Barnacle Inn

The front patio, which is surrounded by bushes, roses, and beautiful gardens, is where guests begin their day with a complimentary continental breakfast. Fresh coffee and home baked rolls are delivered either to your room or to the patio depending on your whim. Full sun bathes the front patio and side gardens each morning, providing serenity and beauty as you begin your day of island adventures.

The side gardens are beautifully shaded and are lush with colorful native flowers and perennials. Cribbage boards and books are available in the library of the spacious front living room, which remains cool and airy on even the hottest of summer afternoons.

The Barnacle Inn

Rooms all bear the names of whaling vessels that sailed from Nantucket over a century ago and can be reserved with either private or shared bath facilities. Many of our rooms are adjoined with baths, which is a great way for friends or families to economize. We also have one three-bedroom suite overlooking the beautiful and historic St. Paul's Church.

The Inn is especially well-suited for large groups, such as wedding parties or family reunions. Our three-bedroom suite is a favorite for brides, in particular, as it affords a convenient and idyllic setting in which to change before walking across Fair Street to the ceremony.
